Regular guitar setups are essential to achieve the lowest action and the least amount of fret buzz, ensuring that your playing experience is both comfortable and enjoyable.  Even if you're just starting out, taking care of your guitar is a good way to make sure you enjoy playing it over time.  Reducing buzz and lowering action is a balancing act of adjusting your truss rod, nut and bridge, pretty much in that order.
